ICDAS shared vision

  • ICDAS is a clinical scoring system for use in dental education, clinical practice, research, and epidemiology.
  • ICDAS is designed to: lead to better quality information to inform decisions about appropriate diagnosis, prognosis, and clinical management at both the indivdual and public health levels.
  • and ICDAS provides a framework to support and enable personalised total caries management for improved long term health outcomes.

ICDAS Pathways

The following links: research, epidemiology, education and clinical practice shows tables developed by The ICDAS committee and others interesting in optimizing the caries detecting process. The tables are divided into 7 rows corresponding to the 7 ICDAS detection scores. Additional detection methods for example radiographs, FOTI and ECM are also divided into 7 stages of severity which correspond to the ICDAS detection codes which eventually are linked to the histological depth of the lesions. Descriptions of the individual scoring systems are given below each table.
